The list below indicated the materials I have used in the workshop videos. You do not have to use the exact materials I am using. Be creative and make the projects your own. Try using different materials, sizes, shapes, etc. Some materials will be available in my online shop…. just as soon as I get them made up.
Round Wire: We will be using silver and copper in the course, but feel free to use what you have. I buy dead soft always, it will get soft as you work through the soldering process anyway.
- 14 gauge (1 foot: optional – you could easily do all projects with a smaller gauge.)
- 16 gauge (1 foot)
- 18 gauge (12 – 15 feet)
- 20 gauge (3 feet)
- 24 gauge (1 foot)
Jump Rings: You can purchase jumprings already made, however, the first project in this workshop will walk you through how to create your own. The projects featured in the workshop feature 18 gauge rings with the following Inner Diameters (ID) 2mm, 3mm, 4mm and 5mm.
Sheet metal and shapes: In the workshop I use copper washers (which can be purchased at Harbor Freight) and metal blanks that I have textured and punched out with my hydraulic press. I will be making and offering these in my shop. Again, you do not need to use what I have in the projects.
Alcohol Inks: I purchased mine at my local hobby store. Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Craft Warehouse and even JoAnn Fabrics carries these in the scrapbooking section.
Clear acrylic spray lacquer: This is used to seal the alcohol inks and copper once you are done with the pieces.
Ready made ear nuts: There are various styles of ear nuts available from jewelry supply companies.
